1. Good luck

For the bride’s family, what needs to be done is clean the ancestral altar, arrange flowers and arrange a tray of fruit on the ancestral altar. The cost of this fruit will fall to about 500,000 VND.

Usually, the bride’s family will invite the groom’s family to an intimate meal in the evening, and the cost will depend on whether you cook at home or reserve a table at a restaurant. The cost of organizing at the restaurant will range from 1.5 to 3 million VND/table.

On the groom’s side, it is necessary to prepare a meeting gift including one tray of betel nut, two bottles of wine, two servings of delicious tea, jam cakes, and a fresh fruit basket. The cost for this part of the offering is from 2 million VND or more, depending on the quality of the offerings.

According to custom, some families also prepare a symbolic envelope for the bride’s family, along with the gifts. This amount is from 2 to 5 million VND depending on the situation, but it is not mandatory.

2. Wedding Invitation Cards

You should rely on the number of guests you have to calculate how much your wedding invitation will cost. You can find many designs for different occasions and compare prices to save money while still having a creative card that matches your personality.

The most inexpensive cards start at 2,500 VND per card, whereas more elaborate cards may be as expensive as 5,000-10,000 or even 50,000 VND depending on what level of detail you want including it!

All this is based on the number of people attending, so make sure not to miss any when calculating costs because they’ll add up quickly if too few are there.

3. Wedding photography

In Vietnam, weddings are a status symbol and an expensive undertaking. The cost of wedding photos can vary depending on the economy, but it’s always essential to choose your shop wisely according to what you want for your day.

A photoset at a film studio will be cheaper than one taken outdoors or in tourist destinations; with 5 million VND (the equivalent of roughly $225), you may pay for the dress that was worn by the bride during their ceremony while they’re also lending out clothes, so people don’t have to get dolled up as much themselves – this includes outfits for both men and women!

4. Wedding Rings

When it comes to choosing the perfect wedding ring, there are many different styles and materials available. May you want a simple gold band or perhaps something more ornate? I like when my partner picks out our rings as he is familiar with what’s in style now while I am not!

Personally, if possible, we would both opt for diamond engagement rings, but they can be surprisingly expensive, so you have to find ones that aren’t too pricey. Otherwise, 3,000,000 VND will get you two pairs of western-style gold bands which should do nicely until your next big purchase!

5. Marriage registration

Many people all around the world are getting married and celebrating their love. If you want to get married, there must be a marriage registration process for your relationship to become valid under the law.

In recent years, Vietnam has been making strides towards equality by exempting Vietnamese citizens from paying the fee when they register for marriage at provincial-level People’s Committees which have jurisdiction over where either party resides within Vietnam.

The Law on Marriage and Family 2014 requires couples residing in countries outside of Vietnam who wish to marry each other to inform their nearest consulate or embassy before registering with authorities inside the country according to local requirements if applicable.

6. Wedding dress

For the brides:

Depending on the design, the line of wedding dresses she chooses, the rental price will be very different. Casual wedding dresses are usually cheap, while mid-range or high-end wedding dresses will have a much higher rental price, possibly 4 to 10 times higher than cheap wedding dresses.

Tailoring tailor-made dresses is a trend chosen by many brides, this cost is only about 3,000,000-6,000,000 million VND, and you have a dress tailored to your measurements. Because my husband and wife’s wedding will be held on two different days, this means I need to wear a wedding dress on those two days. After calculating, I decided to sew wedding dresses instead of renting.

For the groom’s vest:

You just need to choose for him a neat shirt, a suit of the right color. If the groom does not have a vest, you can choose to buy or rent. The cost of purchasing a claim is also about 2-3 million VND.

7. Wedding room

A newlywed couple’s wedding room is their first home together. For most couples, their budget for furnishing this new space will be quite limited and sometimes even non-existent.

It can also be challenging to estimate how much money might go into remodeling because there may not always be enough time before the happy day arrives to plan accordingly so that you know where your spending should fall between 15 million RMB – 100 million RMB (which converts roughly from $2,900). To ensure any uncertainty about whether or not all are necessary.

8. Home Refurbishment

It’s the priority for a bride and groom to plan their wedding at home. To make it more wonderful, your space will be remodeled or decorated with essential parts that you need when family members come over – from crafting an exciting environment as well to avoiding any embarrassment of not being in order! The cost usually depends on how much money needs to be spent on refurbishing and shopping per household member.

9. Pre-marital health check

Before getting married, couples should have a pre-marital health checkup to assess the advantages and disadvantages of married life and having children. This helps teams understand each other well, thereby having a comfortable and empathetic relationship in sexual matters. In particular, it also helps prevent risks during pregnancy, genetic diseases, and birth defects for their children.

Depending on the health status of the man and the woman and the pre-marital health check package that each couple chooses, the cost of the pre-marital health check will vary accordingly. But in general, the cost of pre-marital health checkup packages is about 2,000,000 VND for one person, which should also be included in the price of the wedding.

10. Engagement ceremony

The engagement ceremony, also known as the engagement ceremony, is considered one of the essential rituals in the traditional wedding customs of the Vietnamese people. This is also the official announcement of the two families about the promise of marriage between the two families. And the cost for the engagement ceremony can be broken down in detail as follows:

+ Caskets for interrogation:

The number of caskets depends on local customs, and relies on the consensus of the two families, usually 5, 7, or 9 coffins. The form and quality of each casket are also different, which leads to different prices. Currently, the cost of interrogation boxes is usually from 3 to 9 million dongs.

+ Car rental fee:

With the wedding, only the groom’s family needs to rent a car to take the group to the bride’s house for the wedding ceremony. For the convenience of traveling and carrying the coffin, the groom’s family usually chooses to travel by car or cycle. The car rental amount will change depending on the distance between the boy’s house and the girl’s house. The cost of renting a car ranges from 1.5 million VND/car.

+ Hire a team of calves and caskets:

Based on the number of interrogation caskets, the groom’s family and the girl’s family spend a fee for the team to carry the casket and envelop the red envelopes. Red envelopes: from 50,000 to 100,000 VND. The rental price of the crew: the average rental price for one person is from 80,000-100,000 VND.

+ Renting canvas tables and chairs:

Including money to buy fruits on ancestors’ altar, decoration of the wedding ceremony room, canvas, theater, candy, drinking water, betel nut, and areca are about 2 to 3 million for both sides of the family.

+ Makeup:

3 – 6 million VND, the cost of organizing this wedding includes the clothes of the bride and groom and money for makeup for the bride, the bride’s mother, and the groom’s mother.

+ Pre-wedding challenge:

In many regions, there will be the custom of the black ceremony. The groom’s family must prepare a red envelope for the wedding ceremony to receive the bride. This amount will be at the discretion of the groom’s family, usually between 5 million and not specified.

+ The cost of meals at the bride’s house:

When the groom’s family and the bride’s family are far apart, the bride’s family will often invite the groom’s family to an intimate meal. The table can be made at home or placed at a restaurant near the residence. Average about 1.5 million/table.

11. Wedding ceremony

+ Wedding makeup:

Makeup at home ranges from 1,200,000 to 1,800,000 for the wedding day. Depending on the package, it may or may not include makeup for the bride’s mother. Brides should consult prices and services in many places before making the final choice for the wedding day.

+ Rent canvas furniture on the wedding day:

It is advised for you that you should hire a package wedding service so that the decoration of the wedding and wedding is economical and the most cost-effective for the wedding. The cost for wedding decoration depends on the service that the couple chooses. The price of each specific ornament will depend on many factors. E.g.:

– Tarpaulin:

100,000 – 150,000 VND/1m2 (depending on canvas material)

– Tables and chairs:

80,000 – 200,000 VND/set (1 set includes 1 table and six chairs, plastic chairs are cheaper than recliners)

– Wedding backdrop:

1 – 5 million VND (depending on style, materials, decorative motifs such as silk wedding fonts, paper flowers, foam flowers…)

– Flower gate:

300,000 – 800,000 VND (ball gate), 2-5 million VND (flower gate, depending on the price of fresh flowers, artificial flowers)

– Water table flowers:

100,000 – 200,000 VND (depending on the model and type of flower)

Thus, the minimum cost for wedding decoration is about 10 million VND. If hiring a wedding planner, this cost ranges from 15 million VND to several tens of millions.

+ Buy wedding reception items:

Prepare enough drinking water, fruit, candy to welcome guests. At the same time, the reception desk also needs to be cleaned up, even decorated beautifully with tablecloths and vases of flowers (roses, gerberas, orchids) to create a happy meeting. Looks best. The average falls between 2 and 4 million for each side.

+ Car rental:

Flower cars to bring the bride are an essential part of the wedding ceremony. The cost of renting a flower car and decorating it at the wedding will be paid for by the groom’s family. In addition, both families also need to rent a vehicle to bring relatives and guests to the party if it is held at a restaurant. The cost of renting a car is usually from 3 to 5 million VND.

+ Wedding party:

about 2,000,000 (table for 6 people), 5,000,000 (table for 10 people). For parties that invite only guests of the groom’s family and friends, the cost of wedding dishes will be covered by the groom’s family. If the bride’s family organizes it separately, the girl’s family will pay the expenses.

12. Face-to-face ceremony

The ceremony of returning the face (or the tradition of the second happiness) is one of the necessary wedding customs of the Vietnamese people. The return ceremony usually takes place within five days of the wedding day. Depending on the distance, as well as viewing the date of each family, the couple chooses a specific date. The cost of the ceremony can range from 1 to 4 million VND.

In traditional culture, the face-off ceremony usually requires betel nut, wine, sticky rice, chicken, or pork to burn incense on the altar of the bride’s house. However, nowadays, families have simplified a lot, the gifts are not too picky, but simply like fruits, candies, etc., as gifts to introduce to the family.

13. Going on a honeymoon

Newlyweds are already planning their honeymoon, and it will be a vacation that makes them feel like they’re the only ones in the world. For those who have just started to plan for this milestone event, there is much work involved, such as how long one or both of you will want to go away?

To make sure your wedding expenses don’t leave you broke after everything else has been paid off, try budgeting on what’s important first before deciding where you would ideally love to spend some time with each other.

Depending on which location suits you best – if not local, then abroad- prices can range from 10 million copper cedis up to indefinite amounts!

14. Other incurred expenses

You should budget for an extra expense just in case, about 10% of the total cost of your wedding.

In the following few sentences, I will share some of my top experiences in wedding planning. Depending on your needs, you may be partying at home or in a restaurant and can remove items if you are not needed there.

Wishing happiness to all couples who have planned their day with meaningful moments and memories that will last forever so they too can enjoy peace after their big event!

How to save money on wedding costs and still be adequate?

Wanting to save wedding costs but still have to complete the procedures and offerings is worth thinking about. Based on the economic conditions of each family, local customs, and traditions, you can consider the cost of organizing a wedding that is economical for both parties.

  • Have a clear, detailed plan

You should make a plan that covers the expenses from wedding preparation to after the wedding. The items that have been listed, you can see if there are any unnecessary items, you can cross them out or ask your family and partner’s opinion. Agree to limit or not use those items.

  • Shorten the procedures

It is possible to shorten some of the procedures in the marriage of two families. Of course, you must discuss it with both the boy’s and the girl’s family in advance. For example, if two houses are far from each other, combining the betrothal ceremony and the wedding ceremony on one day saves costs for both parties.

  • Save on wedding costs

Weddings are easy to waste when not planning the number of guests to attend and eat. For families who rent a wedding party at a restaurant, this part of the cost will not be able to be refunded, but on the other hand, they may have to make up for it.

Families organize dinner at home, the amount of leftovers is challenging to return or not much to return. Therefore, reasonably calculate and re-align the number of dinner invitations to save the most cost of organizing the wedding.

  • Note when saving wedding costs

Saving money when organizing a wedding is also a good thing to do, as today many modern-minded people are also willing to simplify wedding procedures so that both families can reduce costs.

When saving on wedding costs, you should note that you should consult with two families, understand the local customs where you and your partner are, and come up with a reasonable way to organize it. The cuts are the things that are not necessary for the wedding, such as fireworks, extravagant wedding room decoration, etc. The cost of organizing an economical wedding needs a clear and detailed plan to not forget any essential procedures or gifts.
